Hi im pretty new to this as only just trying to find out if my thyroid results are normal?

Please can anyone help me?

My Vit B12 is low and my TSH is 4.41 and T3 is 4.2. What does this mean?

I would appreciate any feedback as it is all so confusing to read up on. Thankyou. Lisa. X

Hi dubbel

Do you have the ranges for those numbers you give above. Usually they are in brackets. It is helpful as labs differ throughout the country and it makes commenting easier.

Forget the word 'normal' when you are dealing with GPs/Endocrinologists.

I am assuming you have clinical symptoms and have not been diagnosed yet?

Hi Lisa,

Your TSH is high and your T4 is low. You need more thyroxine. My TSH is currently undetectable and my T4 is 15 (low) and my T3 is 5.1. On those results I actually need more thyroxine to bring my T4 levels up. Some people need a T4 level as high as 30 to feel normal. My GP lives in the dark ages and is obsessed with my TSH level only and says I am taking too much thyroxine. Currently taking 100mcg and 20mcg liothyroinine. My endo is of the same opinion (useless). Don't see an endo - they specialise in Diabetes, not thyroid. Due to this, I contacted Dr Sarah Myhill, and received an advice letter from her re my results, saying to increase thryroxine, which I agree with. Have a look on her site its amazing and has lots of info on there. I am in the process of making a complaint re my practice as I cannot afford to go private. I only work part-time after being out of work for 6months from being made redundant and lost my home as a result of that, so private fees for me are not an option. We should be able to be treated to optimum on the NHS, its just that many GP's don't recognise that many thyroid patients don't fall into the reference range. Dr Sarah Myhill is an exception to this and I did go private to get her recommendation, which was well worth it. However, with thyroxine, we are on it for life and if we get the medication private it will be very costly and besides, it is available on the nhs and our gp's should give us the correct dosage to bring us up to optimum health.

Hope this helps.x
