I put a prescription for lactose-free thyroxine into my pharmacist almost 4 weeks ago and it has still not arrived. Is it normally this long?

I cannot answer but you must be quite frustrated waiting for four weeks. I hope it arrives soon.

I ordered some lactose free levothyroxine and it arrived within a week.

What's the reason given for the delay?

It had to go through the health board for authorisation, apparently. But that was granted well over 2 weeks ago!

It should be possible for the pharmacy to get one of the German makes within a few days.

A specially compounded form might take longer - difficult to know.

Four weeks suggests that someone isn't trying.

Ask for your prescription back and take it elsewhere.

Thanks Rod - think I will have to. I did all the research and took the pharmacy the German manufacturer names. The health board have confused things so I have no idea which brand is actually coming.
