Caffeine Intolerance

Since I've became unwell , I've noticed that when I drink a cup of coffee it makes me ill .. which is strange because I've loved coffee for years. When I drink a cup within 10 minutes I become really dizzy with a strong headache , it literally floors me instead of perking me up.

Can anyone relate ?

Hi Glyn, plenty will relate to this and alcohol intolerance and food intolerances that were never evident prior to diagnosis. Hypothyroidism - the gift that keeps on giving :'(

I've not been diagnosed yet but I'm absolutely feeling it. Need to get to the right doctor !

Glyn, it's unlikely to be a symptom most doctors are aware of. Have your thyroid blood test as early in the morning as possible when TSH is highest.

Hi Glyn, I have experienced this too and in my case I linked it to adrenal fatigue (itself the product of under-treated hypothyoid). Might be worth looking into. I still usually avoid much caffeine now (decaff is actually really good!) but notice that when I'm on holiday and totally relaxed I can drink coffee without these effects - in the way I used to be able to all the time. Good luck.

The saaame with me!! !yes low thyroid means low metabolism, your liver can not metabolize it well cause anyway too busy converting t4 to t3 and under stress!

Hypo people just can not do many things they used to do before:-)

Yes anna fran also said good overstimulation of under pressure adrenals, hypo people have issues with blood sugar balance that uses adrenal glands every single day
