New Hypo Sympton?

Tingling foot??!!

Just when I was starting to feel like my old self after a recent Levo increase a new sympton appears /:(

It's the top of my left foot and it feels fuzzy and tingly - is this something anyone's experienced?

It doesn't 'hurt' - it's just weird and a bit distracting!

Thank you all xx

Mrs. Pinkrat, tingling and numbness in hands and feet can be due to B12 deficiency which is common in hypothyroid people.

Has the metallic taste you were experiencing resolved?

Hiya Clutter

I've been taking 500mui of B12 since late May..

The taste has finally subsided!! Thank you for remembering.

Should I take a higher strength? Xx

Mrs.P, try 3,000mcg daily for a couple of weeks. It should help if it is B12 related. If not go back to 500-1,000mcg.

I have tingling in my legs & it turns out I have a b12 defiency which dr didn't pick up because he was treating my hypothyroidism & anaemia. Taking b12 orally may not help if your body can't absorb it. I needed injections & do feel better for them. Have you had your b12 tested recently?

Hi Isis

I had my b12 done a couple of months ago. It came back as 'normal' but a vit D deficiency was discovered!

I've been 'self medicating' with b12 because of the bitter taste that Clapper mentioned. I don't know if it's coincidence but the taste issue started last October/November - within a month of taking B12 it has gone!

Since increasing Levo a month ago I really feel more 'normal'

I'm glad your feeling more 'normal' now. Do you know your actual b12 count? The range I was given is 180-1000 and mine was considered boarder line at 179. Got a letter saying they would test me again in three months. However, symptoms just got worse - fainting, breathlessness, palpitations, fatigue to name but a few - so dr compared a test I'd had 6 years ago and saw my b12 was much lower and was happy to give me the injections. I had tingling legs for a couple of years before I noticed the rest of the symptoms but didn't think it was significant. Some people get the symptoms before they are officially under range and a good dr will take that into consideration. Hope you get to the bottom of your tingly feet soon!

I have had all sorts of weird tingling, pins and needles, numbness and paralysis in my limbs and cramps in my legs mostly resolved with medication after being diagnosed as overtly hypothyroid. It is interesting about the metalic taste I got it this morning and wondered why. Never noticed it before. I had vit D deficiency 29 bottom end of range 30 in March) it has never been retested after taking supplements. All my sisters get the tingling, numbness in limbs. One is hypo (cancer of thyroid so removed) one has duptchens contracture but her Endo says thyroid is normal the other is ok as far as I know. Vit B12 deficiency thought to be the issue, but my test came back fine. The other weird thing I have is a left sided ptosis (droopy eyelid) they keep looking for myasthenia gravis but after three years have not found positive evidence thank goodness. It came on after treatment with Levo and NDT has not resolved it tho it seems marginally better. Probably nothing to do with tingling etc.

Dear TSH10,

Based on all your signs & symptoms I am almost 100% certain you have a B12 deficiency. I realise your B12 when tested has returned normal but trust me, the test is far from accurate. It's very complex to explain here so check out b12link.com for the lowdown on B12. If you don't devote 2 hours for this site (including videos) you're really not serious about your health. I wish you well. Subra Maniun, Bangalore.
