Has anyone experienced foot cramp? I've never had it before, ever, but with the return of my symptoms recently I've also had cramp in my feet. Not in the legs, just the feet. Is it a known symptom of hypothyroidism, or is it coincidence?

Foot cramps?
Have you tried taking magnesium? Cramps are usually due to low magnesium.
Yes. I take both magnesium and gastrolyte if the cramps are very bad to replace lost salts. My legs still ache, bit the cramp is eliminated
Plagued with it - definitely thyroid symptom
Could it be gout? Try eliminating sugar/carbs.
Hi I had that a lot before TT for cancer. Since T4znd T3 dosing Ihave had 1 episode in nearly a year.
I am sure it was hypo symptom for me
Maybe levels need testing.
I get it its so bizarre my foot will go almost into spasm and I can't move my feet for a while and it's pretty painful. Also get calf cramps but that's a pregnancy thing for me. It is better with vitamins so may well be a magnesium thing.
Please try eating one banana per day. It works for me and I had foot AND leg cramps.
I don't know if it's linked. I have issues now with my potassium levels & 1st sign it's dropping is cramp. So I eat 2 bananas & drink a glass coconut water a day to maintain a good potassium level.
I've had foot and calf cramps for years. I drink a glass of tomato juice with extra table salt every evening. Despite this extra salt, a recent blood test showed my sodium was only just in range (low end). I also take multi-vitamin and mineral tablets.
Thanks all. My family used to joke I was a monkey when I was young due to my love of bananas. I still eat them, but not always every day, so I'll try increasing my intake. It's only in the last month or so I've had the cramp so it isn't something I've ever had to resolve before.
I've tried coconut milk before, but it tasted too disgusting for words and after the first mouthful it went down the drain. Instead I put a shaving of coconut oil in my coffee (except during this summer's heatwave when it turned to liquid in the cupboard!) or coconut shavings on my porridge. Maybe I'll try eating more Bounty bars? Shuffling down to Sainsbury's later today so I'll try picking some up - as if I need an excuse for chocolate
I used to get cramps, spasms, muscle pain, and there were various things I take which helped :
1) Get iron/ferritin to optimal, not just in range. Supplementing iron shouldn't be done unless levels are tested and shown to be below optimal.
2) Magnesium - I take 400mg magnesium citrate per day, just before bed. It makes some people feel a bit sleepy, and also acts as a mild laxative. If you don't want either of those things there are lots of other magnesium supplements available :

3) Potassium - excess potassium is dangerous for the heart and could cause all sorts of problems. I supplement it in tiny quantities.
4) Vitamin D - low vitamin D didn't cause cramps as such, but it did cause muscle pain.
Yes, excruciating. I'll try the bananas. I've been drinking a glass of tonic water a day and think that helps prevent it a bit.
Try taking Epsom salt baths (they're magnesium too) and eat microwaved sweet potatoes (potassium) - really easy to do. Also don't eliminate salt - my Mum did for her high blood pressure and it backfired horribly and she started to balloon from excess fluid build up.
I have no thyroid and am on 150 levo daily. After moving house i was very tired and kept forgetting to take my second calcium/d3 tablet sometimes forgetting to take morning one too. After a few weeks i developed foot cramps leading to leg/thigh cramp and then strange tingling in body. It was the tingling that may me think and realise i'd been forgetting to take my calcium/d3. I took extra for a few days and make sure i don't forget it now and tingling and cramp have gone. I understand that low magnesium also causes cramp so you need to look into what it may be for you. It would help if you can get a calcium blood test.
Leg & foot cramping were definitely a hypo symptom for me. However you should also normalize your magnesium & potassium levels, depending on what a metabolic profile shows.
