I get one swollen foot from time to time. Either foot. It gets large and puffy and shiny. I have had venus scans and doppler pulses done and they report nothing untoward except tissue fluid. Does anyone else get this?? Is it hypothyroid related? No one seems to know. I have posted on fb and it seems fairly common.

Do you have a thyroid issue ? Maybe you are undermedicated. Do you have any results with ranges to share. ? Low thyroid can affect fluid levels so maybe your T3 is low in range ...
Thank you Marz, Free T4 10.4 (Ref 10.0-20.0); Free T3 3.5 (Ref 2.3-5.7) TSH 1.6 ( Ref 0.3-5.0)
What is your dose of Levo ? FT4 is just above the bottom of the range. FT3 also low - however TSH looking fine ! Could it be you have Central Hypothyroidism - where the Pituitary is at fault ? Docs seemingly do not understand much about thyroids ... Have you ever had thyroid anti-bodies tested - TPO and Tg. When were you diagnosed ?
Yes antibodies tested about 6 months ago, were ok. I was diagnosed about 25 years ago, coasted along ok on routine T4 ( 75mcg) until about 12 months or so ago when TSH went through the roof, Dr upped it to 100mcg and I got bad palpitations which the Dr ignored. I decreased the dose myself back to 75mcg and the Dr got mad at me, so I found an Integregrative Care Dr who put me on NDT and things settled down. I take 75 mgs in the morning. Thanks for your help. I will ask (regular) Dr about pituitary tests. I doubt it will be agree to tho!
Do you often get your sodium and potassium levels checked? These need to be optimal and balanced to keep water levels in the tissues balanced.
Thank you greygoose, Sodium 138 mmol/L (Ref 135-145 ); Potassium 4.8 mmls/L (Ref 3.5-5.0).
