Hi,

I'm lactose allergic and take liquid Levo atm but now need to get all my other meds lactose free. Does anyone use the Lactose free levo tablets and if so, do you have any idea of their cost please?

Are you in UK

Teva have recently relaunched lactose free tablets. They are same price as standard Levo I believe

healthunlocked.com/thyroidu...

Quite a few people don't get on with Teva - if you put Teva into search box you will see

But others have posted that they love them .....won't know till you try.....we are all different

Wow that's really interesting info, I'll have to search Teva and maybe understand why people didn't get on with it. Thank you so much!

The interesting thing is that similar reports emanate from France where their only widely available levothyroxine product was reformulated without lactose - but with mannitol instead. UK Teva levothyroxine contains mannitol (but not the product they supply in Ireland).

The situation has been so bad in France that the government has been involved and they are reverting recipe.

Wow it must be really bad if the government is involved. So that was due to Mannitol? Have to be so careful with drug additives!

Be careful - that is making a leap too far - it is just a finger pointing at mannitol rather than proof.

Also, mannitol could be entirely acceptable in any other medicine. Even if mannitol is "the problem", we don't know why. I suspect many people have consumed it in many other forms over many years without suffering the same issues.

We are all different with different sensitivities. I do understand it might be fine in a different medication though. I'm sticking wth my liquid for now though. !

Jaydee1507,

Have you checked the ingredients of liquid Levothyroxine? I doubt there is lactose in it.

You won't be able to buy Teva without a prescription.

Umm, yes I'm in the UK btw. Was trying to save my GP some money as I need everything lactose free. No, the liquid doesn't contain lactose. I get NHS prescriptions...

PS Having read just a few of the Teva comments I'm thinking of staying put with the liquid, no way I need to go through more allergies!

I am on Teva lactose Free ,have been since January .I am fine with them in fact my IBS has been much better. When I first knew I had to have Levothyroxine ,I asked my Chemist for Lactose free and he said it would cost £100 and he had to get them from Germany and would I try the normal ones ,which I did and they made me ill.So l came on this lovely site and was told about Teva .Went back and told the chemist and he ordered them . I was a bit worried about the Mannitol but I am fine with them .I believe they are the same price .Itake them at night .
