Quick Poll - Yes or No...

I read an interesting article today, which lead to others, and then my brain gave up :-)

But I thought I would ask:

How many of you with Hashimotos are of a Rh- Rhesus negative Blood type????

This can be

A-

B-

AB-

O-

The reason I ask, is that there have been a number of studies, funded by the rhesus negative association I must add, that show a link between Rh- blood groups and autoimmune diseases

However they have not focused on one single disease, so I do not think that docs take this seriously.

If there were a link, surely that would mean docs could screen us -ve's annually - or do they know there is a link and feel it is not cost effective to catch us before we fall off a health cliff, and wait to treat us until we are really ill on purpose?

so - yes or no - are you a Hashimotos sufferer with Rh- blood type?

inquiring minds need to know :-)

A speshulness most would happily forgo, Mrs. S. I'm less special now as I assume Hashi went away when my thyroid was hoiked out.

Nope , o positive. But i have the gene associated with coeliac and hashimotos. Forget what it is called

Hi, thank-you for your post. Can I please ask how you found out you had the gene?

was it a NHS test, did your GP suggest it, or did you look for it yourself / private tests?

I am interested, as in the UK I ma not aware of the level of gene testing that there is in the US

I am A- and have Hashimoto's. Don't know my daughter's blood type, but I wonder whether being pregnant with an Rh+ fetus is a precipitating factor. I did have RhoGam, though, which should have prevented my developing an immune response to the Rh factor.

LMAO!

I believe the conclusion of the poll was that the results, generally, follow population figures for blood type and were therefore inconclusive....

Hashi's A and negative I think. I read that if you have premerture greying, blue eys and blood group A you are more likely to have pernicious anemia.

Graves I am A positive

Hi everyone, Just wanted to say a big thank-you to everyone who has posted, and welcome anyone else to post too.

The spread is pretty even so far for thyroiod illness, alittle more negatives than +ve's but not by much.

I m interested in the number of )-ve that have responded as only 7% of the population are O-ve and only 3% are AB-ve.

Interesting stuff - thank-you all for taking the time to respond :-)

Big Hugs,

M
