B12 600ng/L (191-663)

Serum folate 12.1ug/L (4.6-18.7)

R Serum Iron LO 4umol/L (10-30)

Serum transferrin HI. 3.89 g/L (2.0-3.6)

No idea about these. My doctor told me to "eat a bit more broccoli and things".

Anyone have a clue about these? Just want to make sure I'm at my optimum for T4!

Whit

Sheesh, what is it with these doctors! You're anaemic/iron deficient Whitney and you need supplements not just green veg. Try ferrous fumarate and take each dose with 500mg-1,000mg vitamin C which aids absorption and mitigates constipation.

Make sure you lightly cook goitrogens like broccoli, kale, cauli etc. as they're not thyroid friendly raw.

B12 and folate are very good.

Oh I know, Clutter. Disaster.

Brilliant though. Supplements will start ASAP. My endo has apparently left me a prescription for 600mg of iron a day.

So happy b12 and folate are good!

As your B12 is so good I am wondering if you have been supplementing with a B complex ? I agree with Clutter....

No! I haven't ever taken any supplements??

So that is a better result than most. Still good to aim for the top of the range as only 20% of that result reaches the cells where it is needed.... In Japan the range starts at 500 and goes up to 1300 :-)

Anemic for sure! Get checked for Celiac. First sign is often anemia and thyroid problems are often brought on by gluten problems.

I think I'm going to try gluten free for a while anyway!! Thank you! :)

It may be worthwhile getting tested for coeliac before going gluten free as you need to have been eating gluten containing foods for six weeks before testing.

No-one with hypo should eat broccoli unless its thoroughly cooked!

I am really surprised about raw broccoli as a nutritionist told my friend to eat raw broccoli salad and I make it and have no effects
