Thyroid gold and levothyroxine

Hi I heard some one talk about Thyroid Gold,can anyone tell me,if you take that in place of levo or along side it

Thyroid Gold is a desiccated thyroid product which is sold as a supplement to avoid USA regulations and enable its sale in the USA without prescription.

It is claimed to have a consistent and significant thyroid hormone content. (Quite a number of other apparently similar products claim to have no thyroid hormone content.) However, it is not exactly equivalent to prescription desiccated thyroid grain for grain.

You can do with it exactly the same as any prescription desiccated thyroid. That is, switch over completely or take some T4 and/or T3 with it. Obviously you need to be careful to adjust dosing with a lot of thought and, probably, some experimentation.

I think that for people in the UK, Thyroid Gold can work out more to be expensive than some other desiccated thyroid products.
