Thyroid and Menopause Fighting It Out???

I have had underactive thyroid for 20 years. Taking Levo and low dose Celexa for heart palps that come when the thyroid decides it will work for a bit. Now in the throws of being menopausal at 49 and exhausted, feel fullness in the neck, night sweats requiring an ark and animals two by two, foggy in the brain and just feel as though I am pushing a piano. Any suggestions? Has anyone else felt like this? Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

My sympathies, I slowly reduced my HRT over a few months then stopped completely 7 weeks ago I have been having hot flushes and night sweats also my insomnia has got worse.

Some of the symptoms also are very much like when I was overactive before RAI treatment. so is very hard to tell what is what.

I hope there is light at the end of the tunnel soon.

My foggy brain cleared 2 days after I swapped to taking my levothyroxine at nightime on an empty stomach and 4 hours away from iron/calcium (dairy foods) as someone on here suggested to me. Apparently it helps to optimize your levothyroxine.

I woke up wondering why my eyes and head felt so bright and clear once again, also getting out of bed I realized all the usual stiffness was no longer there and I could dance and exercise once more.

This high only lasted for two weeks, then it all went in reverse till I got my Doctor to up my levothyroxine again.

By experiencing it myself, I know you need to be at your optimum medication level and maybe take some vitamins and minerals, I have only recently realized how important these are and have started on them
