Not without a full list of ingredients and excipients and not from a 4FB seller, either. This looks like it is trying to pass off as NDT to me, but is described as a dietary supplement and not as thyroid hormone replacement.

Check out ThyroidUK main site for supplements and minerals.

I think they could risk prosecution if it was described as medication so they get round that by describing it as a dietary supplement

No I wouldn't buy it, you have no idea what could be in it, hopefully nothing harmful - if it isn't what it says it is - but then I'm not desperate (yet!)

There's a photo of the label "supplement facts" you could always message the vendor to ask for an explanation of the ingredients as you cannot read it on the photo. I wouldn't order without first asking questions. If I can ask questions about lipsticksts to the eBay vendor, then you can surely so about something so important. I wonder what dose the manufacturer recommends too . I wonder if it's going to be like nutri thyroid or is it going to be like armour thyroid. Either way it's cheap.

Ingredents: taken from the pot in my cupboard

Raw Porcine Thyroid Tissue 130mg

Gelatin from free-range sources

Does not contain any sugar, starch, salt, wheat, corn, rice, gluten, yeast, dairy or soy derivatives

Tissue produced by lyophilization

From their website:

This is a whole-food nutritional porcine glandular from grass-pastured stock, raised without antibiotics and growth-stimulants. The whole porcine thyroid gland is simply desiccated (freeze dried), which concentrates the natural constituents. Porcine thyroid is produced in the United States using stringent quality control and safety measures

HTH

It's a very reputable US brand - mentioned in Dr Peatfield's book

We'll done Angel. So if it's an established product, and now you know the ingredients, perhaps that helps. Not that I means anything but I noticed two eBay vendors selling it. Clearly Angel uses it if she has the product at home.

By the way there's a tub of Nutri Thyroid going on eBay. Search Thyroid and you'll see it near the top of the list. It's not mine, nothing to do with me, I just saw it.

Angel, can I ask how you take it? Do you take it along with other thyroid meds like Levo or amour or T3 and how much do you take, in a.m. or p.m? I too am desperate, already on NutriWest's Total Thyroid, to be honest, feels like nothing. Might try this. Thanks!

I don't really take it now I have T3, unless I have a bad day and then I take one at the opposite end of the day from the T3. I'm not nearly as ill as most people here, so what I used to do might not work for you.

I used to take it as though it was NDT before breakfast. I only took 2. I could actually feel my hands getting warmer about an hour after taking it. I think you'd need several capsules if you are *really* hypo and NDT from Thailand is much cheaper (although probably has more fillers).

It's not NDT. I took the Nutri-meds product for several months before going on to T3. It is similar to Nutri Thyroid, but they don't say that it doesn't contain hormones, so I assume it does. It sold a supplement in the US but is now banned in the EU (as they say it is NDT). You can get it from iHerb.com in the US. I found it made a real difference to me - no nasty filler or allergens, but NDT is cheaper and you'd need to take quite a lot.

Thanks for all these responses, don't think I'll bother after reading!

It's the same thing as nutri thyroid, just the american version. Dr P recommends it in his book. I found nutri thyroid helped, but NDT is much stronger and the levels of T4 & T3 are more exactly controlled.

You might want to read this thread before buying this product. It does not appear to contain T4 or T3 but bits of pigs that you with find in sausages.

Bits of pig are what NDT is made of too. It used to be the only treatment available before the synthetic money spinner! People don't complain about their replacement pig heart valves :-)

Metavive isn't the same product - that's the one they now sell in the UK and EU since they aren't allowed to sell the original - the stockist in the UK euphemistically describe these new products "as glandular meats". Tried the adrenal one and didn't bother again. The US product (that used to be stocked in the UK) s quite different.

Hey Gillybean I bought the raw thyroid. Then I got the real stuff from Thailand. The real stuff works in two days. Good luck honey. PM me if you want x

I have been hypothyroid for four years now and have been on levothyroxine for all this time and my TSH readings have been around 4.5. Recently I stopped taking the levo and my results went up to 5.13. I then started it again but also started on Metavive 11 and occasional Iosol iodine. I've just had another TSH test and my result was 0.3! The only different thing I have done in the four years, was to take the Metavive 11 so I am assuming that this has made an enormous difference.

Welcome to the forum, Deetroy.

You've replied to an old thread and may not get a reply. If you want advice it is best to click on Write a Post (top right of page) and post your question.

Metavive 11 is a bovine thyroid supplement and it would appear that there is T4 and T3 in it which will have raised your FT4 and FT3 and subsequently reduced your TSH.

in reply to Clutter

Thank you - it has taken me a while to see how the posts work. The Metavive 11 I'm taking is porcine and doesn't say what is in it except for porcine thyroid. I am in the uk
