Hi I am 106kg male and currently on 100/125mg. Tsh 0.18 t4 15.7 t3 4.7 you have to take into account I don't have a thyroid. I have always felt that I may need to take more medication but according to my bloods test I am on the right amount. Symptoms however are mixed very tired sleep 12 hours and nap in the after noon. Racy thoughts nervous itchy eyes dry skin and feel slow brain fog and can't seem to get anything done.

How much thyroxin is right for me after total TT.
My own personal opinion is that someone who has no thyroid gland whatsoever should have the best possible hormone replacement, which is natural dessicated thyroid hormone, Armour, Naturethroid, etc. as they contain what you have missing, T3, T2, T1 and calcitonin and maybe some other things we don't know. The British Thyroid Association have given a bad press to these meds, even although they have been in use for over 100 years successfully.
Very few doctors would prescribe as some who do may appear before the GMC.
The next best thing is to have some T3 (liothyronine) added to your T4 (levothyroxine) as T3 is actually the active hormone and T4 is inactive. The modern doctors believe that if the TSH is within range that if we are moaning about something else, that it is not due to the thyroid gland but will willing you give you another prescription for another medication rather than a trial at least of T3.
The fact that you still do not feel well and have clinical symptoms ask your GP or Endo if you can add T3 to your T4. I hope you are successful.
If you post your blood test results you have to quote the ranges, as labs throughout the country differ and it makes it easier to comment.
Hi Shaws,
Please take a look at Bob2013's recent post which will give you, or anyone else that is answering him, more of an idea what is going on with him.

Thanks Moggie. While I was on levothyroxine, not overmedicated I was plagued by palpitations and fast heart beats. Sometimes I think it's the fillers/binders.
I agree that levo can cause heart issues - it has done nothing but to me for over a year now - but I think his high ferritin levels are clouding the issues and until this is sorted out, as one of the symptoms of high ferritin is also heart palps, he will not be getting a clear picture of what is causing what.
Totally agree about fillers/binders as now I am on a levo with hardly any my palps are almost none existent - just a shame I couldn't get anyone in the medical profession to take me seriously.

I think you must be under medicated going on your symptoms and weight. Post TT you might also need some T3.
I was over replaced on 200mcg T4 post TT for thyCa. My weight was 52kg and it made me very ill. Now on 100mcg + 25mcg T3 and weight 48kg.
Hi Bob
If you email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org and ask for a copy of the Pulse Online article by Dr Toft. In it he says that some of us need a low/suppressed TSH to feel better and the addition of T3. If you highlight question 6 and send a copy to your GP to consider before your next appointment, he may add some T3 as I don't think you may be converting T4 into enough T3 for you to feel well. Doctor's don't appear to understand how unwell we can be even while on medication. This is a link and read the first answer. Holistic doctors use this method and that's how it was done before thyroid gland blood tests came in in the 60's. I only got better when I went onto T3 alone but everyone is different.
