Does it actually help you if you are hypo as I read an article which stated that it inhibits the take up of T4 & T3 .
I was looking to take for fatigue/energy

I think this is a difficult one. What there is out there does seem to suggest it should not be taken if hypothyroid and on thyroid hormone replacement - it's good for the hypers though. That said I have taken it in the past because it does help with the brain fog - presumeably through a different action than the action it has on thyroid uptake!
It's all so complicated and interrelated!!
What I have found is that Acetyl l carnitine seems to work on my brain and l-carnitine on my body - mental v physical energy.
Thanks for replying Sandi!
I think I am going to have to do some more research on this stuff as not straightforward benefits.
Did you come across anything else that worked?

Not really, at least not from a standing start! By that I mean nothing that increases energy level from what it is but the miracle thing for me is d-ribose which mitigates the effects on fatigue after any physical exertion.
The advice is to take it regularly but then I personally noticed no difference but if I take it after say a bit of gardening or housework or heavy shopping ( not that much of any of those gets done theses days!) then I recover quicker with less post exertional malaise, as they call it!
Tried CoQ10 but never felt any effects from that at all.
You tried anything else with/without success?
