GP of the year...

Having gone to see my GP today,in real anxiety that she'd tell me come off T3, you must all have felt the wave of relief...result? I left the surgery with a prescription for 40x 20mcg tablets for four weeks, with explicit instruction on the 'scrip to take 25mcg daily.

Can't adequately express the way I felt. Go back in 8 weeks to - and I quote- see if it needs any tweaking, and with the instruction to find a way of taking that gets rid of the symptoms. Hallelujah for doctor who knows me well enough to trust me.

That's fantastic! Your GP is one in a million!

Great News mumcat2 .....it's so good to hear that T3 is being offered by some GPs now

Can we dare to hope that winds of change are in the air? It would be amazing to see an increase of T3 prescriptions on the NHS for those who need it in order to get well again.

Good luck for the future.I hope you stay well X

Oh, that's very good news. Cutting a tablet into quarters isn't going to be easy though.

Well, what a surprise and a great relief. Maybe some gps are learning from us, slowly but surely? I wish mine would. I am very pleased for you.

Good to hear! My Gp didn't prescribed but was willing to write to an endo who prescribed 20mcg twice per day. When I went for a review 4 wks later she gave me a batch prescription for 1 year. When I asked about having a blood test, she said no need, as it is more important that i I feel better! What a refreshing approach!!!

I suspect she has or knows someone close who has hypothyroidism.

That's great news ! Wish there were more GP's like that.

I saw a new Dr at my GP's. Asked if I could try T3. She said " no." They can't prescribe it. I said I will buy it myself. But no, she said I might end up overactive again. I thought that after I had RAI I couldn't go over active. Am I wrong ? Did manage to get some blood tests though, less for me to pay private for. I had Vit B12, ferritin, folate, FBC, and Vit D.

Good to see you have a GP that will prescribe T3. Perhaps more Drs will soon do the same. So pleased for you. x
