Hi

I asked my Doctor for a full Thyroid count but results have come in and only tested serum tsh which is 1.16 (0.35 - 4.5) range.

Any advice on if this is ok, or should I go back and ask for full test.

Thanks

This seems to be a regular occurrence now, if TSH is in range labs won't test FT4 & FT3 unless GP or specialist kicks up a song and dance.

You could ring your GP and ask him to ring the lab and insist on FT4 at least, before they get rid of the sample.

Thanks I will try that. Do you know if 1.16 is good?

Thanks

Are you on meds? How do you feel?

1.16 is in the lower half of the TSH norm, so in one sense is 'good' but if you're not feeling well, then that means nothing! I would certainly ask for T4, T3 and -T3 to be tested, it will give you a FAR better picture of what's going on for you.
