My doc says I am well within range @ 4.2 (ref range 2.5 -6.6) but I feel SO tired, cold, achy, brainfogged. Could I still be hypo? Help!

Have panhypopituitarism. Take cortisone, growth hormone, and sev others. My ft4 was 21.8. I had taken my meds as normal prior to blood test.

Please can you confirm the reference ranges for the tests - just to be sure. :)

Also do you know if you have thyroid antibodies?

What thyroid treatment are you on? Which dose? Which make?

This information will help people to better offer informed support..

Some people do not feel well until their TSH is towards the bottom of the reference range or lower and their FT4 towards the top. Your FT4 looks quite high.

I would suggest that you need FT3 testing as well to see what your body is doing with all that T4.

Try not taking your thyroid meds before your blood test

that's gotta be the strangest range I've seen for tsh ,, you need a new lab.. shocking . any chance you could get a referral to endo ? if not it might pay you to pay private for one session to see decent endo ,, you can check their credentials on line ,, then ask to be referred to them on nhs, I did that. meant I got put on levo at same tsh as yours is.

I haven't seen this range before so it is quite unusual. However, whatever the range, it's where you are in the range that matters, I believe. So 4.2 is mid-range in this case. Probably not low enough as a lot of people need to be at the lower end of the range. But we wouldn't be suggesting that jimbrleykim20

aims for a TSH or 1 or below would we! That's my understanding (I might be wrong), but Helvella kindly did a post on ranges and different equipment and how it all works so worth checking that out.

From what I can gather you should never take thyroid meds before a thyroid blood test as it could skew the results xx

Agree with others it is a strange range & may not be for TSH at all - it looks almost like my FT3 range (3.5-6.5).

My Dad had acromegaly (pituitary disorder too) so it's much too complicated for me to comment - agree you must find a knowledgeable Endo
