Well, my first thoughts are 1) that is a bit soon for a retest and 2) if you post your actual test results with ranges someone here will interpret them.

I only felt about 30% better on an 'ideal' dose of levo! You may very well need a higher dose but you won't know that unless you have your test results and many GPs will not recognise it.

Oh, and have you been tested for vit d? Deficiency can cause bone pain.

50mcg of levo is a starting dose and should have been increased (my personal view).

As puncturedbicycle says, get a print-out of your latest thyroid gland blood test results, with the ranges, (always get one for your own records) and post them for members to comment upon them.

Forget 'normal'. What's normal for you may not be for me and vice versa. If you haven't had a blood test for Vitamin B12, Vit D, iron., ferritin and folate ask for these to be done as well. Unfortunately, we have to read and learn about the thyroid gland in order for us to get better if the doctor doesn't know too much except go by the TSH result.

Have you had a test for thyroid antibodies? I am hypo and suffered overheating at night before antibodies test was done and showed me well above range.

I am sleeping under a 4.5 tog duvet - and am frequently still too hot in bed. This is not normal. How did your antibodies and overheating come together? And what did you do about it?

Thank you. Doc is lovely but he point blank refuses to give printout of results. He knows is know I am entitled, bit I have been reluctant to get cross. The receptionist has been well primed to say no too. I am going back next week. Doc's reason not to increase Levi even slightly was "risk of side effects". Have read Dr Toft and aspire to feeling 100 per cent. Thank you

He may be nice to you in other ways (which we can't discount having experience with the ones who are overtly rude) but refusing to give you your test results means that he is less lovely than he'd like you to think.

Have you thought about writing a letter to the practice manager? At least then you can keep it simple and to the point and you don't have to have a face-to-face about it. Doc's refusal is uncooperative and out of order and apparently he knows it. If he will not treat you to bring you back to full health you may need a different doc.

I understand why you do not want a confrontation - I have been there myself - but by refusing you he is forcing you into a corner.
