Has anyone used the Blue horizon home blood test for FT3? is it reliable?

It would save a journey. Thanks Bev.

I haven't but many on here have and they're well regarded. Importantly, GPs and consultants recognise their credentials and usually accept their results.

Thank you Clutter!

Hi Bev,

The blood collected by the microtainers for the Thyroid home blood tests is analysed at TDL in London in the same analysers used for vacutainers, so is very reliable.

You may be as well to look at an intermediate Thyroid profile as it contains FT4 and TSH in addition to the FT3, the costing may be similar.

Hope this helps!

I've used both the in home intermediate and the service via spire hospital ( private blood tests.) Both excellent service and I felt good value too. Totally agree,, with above,, intermediate is prob your best bet. Don't forget to apply the discount code for tenner off if doing the home one. I'd use the service and recommend it totally. Ps,, no I'm not on commission but think I should be the cos of the amount of people I tell. Lol

I've used them and would totally recommend them too. The only problem I had with the home blood test was getting enough blood out of myself for them to do the test! I used all three supplied lancets on three different fingers ... and still didn't get enough blood for them to do the test! But they were extremely helpful about it and allowed me to go to a Spire Hospital for the test at no extra cost because the home test kit had failed for me.

Please don't let my experience with the home test kit put you off though. I haven't come across anyone else who has had difficulty getting out enough blood! Everyone else I've heard about says it was really easy for them. Good luck!
