I am on nature throid and will like to know which is the most important results I must look out for .read tsh is not important T3 or t4
In my experience, on the right dose of NDT, my TSH is suppressed at <0.02, my fT4 is mid-range and fT3 is top third or quarter if the range. Don't know if that's any help ? Xx
The most important is, how do you feel. If improving it is working for you. This is a link for info re thyroid gland blood tests. Excerpt from answer to first question.
Our treatment team uses the TSH level only initially to help clarify a patient’s thyroid status. But during treatment, we completely ignore the level. The reason is that the TSH level is totally irrelevant to normalizing the patient’s whole body metabolism and relieving his or her suffering. The only clinical value of the TSH level is to see the effect of a particular dose of thyroid hormone on the pituitary gland’s "thyrotroph" (TSH-secreting) cells.
The links within may not work.
I need to have my TSH suppressed <0.1 as there is more chance the cancer has recurred if it rises, so TSH is important to me from that aspect. Unfortunately, I don't feel well suppressed and am having to weigh the pros and cons of suppressing TSH or letting it rise and feeling better and accepting the increased risk of recurrence.
The T3 in NDT will suppress TSH and FT4. I agree with Shaws that how you feel is more important than lab results.
