Blood test results and still no better.

I had routine bloods done last week after my glands in the left of my neck have been swollen & painful. Doctor confirmed my thyroid gland is swollen on the left side. All bloods came back normal including TSH. Have been referred for a neck scan but seeing the doctor again tomorrow as thyroid gland is more swollen and painful all the time. Any ideas on what this could be or what I should be asking as doctor has said he will see me but doesn't think there is anything he can do until they get the scan results.

My TSH result was 1.79, range is 0.3-5.0

Must admit doesn't make any sense to me! Did have loads of other tests done via bloods but this is the only one that I think relates to thyroid.
