Usually normal range is 200-900, although many think the lower range is too low. Japan has 500 so if you were Japanese you would be treated. I suppose the question is , have you any symptoms?

This link has a short summary of most of the blood tests performed in the UK:

labtestsonline.org.uk/

With MCV and MCH described here:

labtestsonline.org.uk/under...

If you are low in B12, then your red blood cells tend to be larger. This is reported by the Mean Cell Volume being a higher number.

However, if you are ALSO deficient in iron, then MCV can actually be "normal" or even low, despite being low in B12.

Hi dotti

My husbands result was 220 range 180 - 1100

He has lots of B12 deficiency symptoms.

G.P. was not going to give injections at first and tried to say he was depressed.

I said have been married to him for 34 years and I would know if he was depressed and I insisted it was his B12 causing him to be ill so she eventually agreed to give him injections.

Your level is too low. Range is usually up to 900. You need to supplement with methylcobalamin B12 and you can also get sublingual which means it goes directly into your bloodstream.

Is it ok to take the sublingual b12 along with a multivitamin that already contains it?

It is stated that we cannot overdose on B12 as excess is excreted in urine.

Do you have any other blood test results? For example full blood count - particularly MCV and MCH?
