Hi
Do you mean FT3 4.1? if you do your results are very similar to mine, but your ranges may different from mine as all labs differ so it would be best if you could put the ranges.
I was also on 125mcg levo and the endo's registra reduce to 125mcg one night 100mcg the next night. She said my TSH was suppressed, I answered yes but my T4 and T3 are at the lower end of the range and should be in the upper part of the range to feel well, her reply, but your TSH is suppressed. That's all they go by, they don';t bother how you feel. How are you feeling, did you feel well on 125mcg?
Best wishes browny
Hi Browny and Dylansmum
This is an excerpt from Dr Toft of the British Thyroid Association:-
6 What is the correct dose of thyroxine and is there any rationale for adding in tri-iodothyronine?
The appropriate dose of levothyroxine is that which restores euthyroidism and serum TSH to the lower part of the reference range – 0.2-0.5mU/l.
In this case, free thyroxine is likely to be in the upper part of its reference range or even slightly elevated – 18-22pmol/l. Most patients will feel well in that circumstance.
But some need a higher dose of levothyroxine to suppress serum TSH and then the serum-free T4 concentration will be elevated at around 24-28pmol/l.
This ‘exogenous subclinical hyperthyroidism’ is not dangerous as long as serum T3 is unequivocally normal – that is, serum total around T3 1.7nmol/l (reference range 1.0-2.2nmol/l).
Even while taking the slightly higher dose of levothyroxine a handful of patients continue to complain that a sense of wellbeing has not been restored. A trial of levothyroxine and tri-iodothyronine is not unreasonable. The dose of levothyroxine should be reduced by 50µg daily and tri iodothyronine in a dose of 10µg (half a tablet) daily added.

If you need a copy of the whole article to give to your Endo, email louise.warvill@thyroiduk.org. The above is the answer to question 6.
Many thanks shaws
does this mean we need a higher dose of levo or add T3 and reduce levo?
Thank you browny & shaws x Although I have been on here sometime, I still am a novice as to what these excerpts mean, with all the jargon! I know I am thick! Can someone put it in very easy terms what I need!! More T4 add some T3 or iron? Thank
you xx
Hi dylansmum
I am still trying to sort it all out myself, My ferritin (iron stores) is 88 but I am not sure if your iron level is the same as ferritin, maybe someone can answer better. I was told my ferritin level is good.
reallyfedup123 replied we need more T4 but I am not sure when it gets to the point on deciding to add T3
Many thanks
