I got bloodtest tomorrow and forgot something ...

Hi all

I would appreciate a little bit of help. I got a big bloodtest tomorrow which includes a lot of things but I just can't remember the following: I haven't got thyroids at all ( had TT in june ) and forgot if I need to take my thyroxin as per usual or not. I do know that people with thyroids still intact and who are suffereing from hypo/hyper don't take the medication to get the true reading for their medication dozages to go up/down. Many thanks

At what time of the day do you take your meds and at what time are your tests?

Then dont take your meds until after your test or you could get a false reading. The TSH test is an indication of how much thyroid hormone is in your blood and taking your levo a few hours before a test means that you will probably have more than the normal level of thyroid hormone in your blood, hence the false reading. It will only mean taking your levo a few hours later so I would definately take it after the test.

Moggie, I have an overactive thyroid condition and take 15mg Carbimazole daily. Does this mean that I should take the tablets before my bloods are taken to lower the level? My apologies to ThyroidHell for asking on your thread.
