i'm very new to all this having only just been diagnosed hypothyroid, but I had regular new clinic blood tests, then a recall on thyroid and then a call to meet with gp and she advised hypothyroid and thyroxine (levo) with a 3-4 week blood test follow up. sounds similar. when you see dr ask them to give yo a print out of your blood results then post on here for more experienced people to advise you.
Always get the ranges of your blood tests as well as labs differ.
Initially, you have a blood test every approx 6 weeks and an increase in medication till your symptoms diminish.
You can take your levothyroxine either first thing with a full glass of water and have breakfast about 1 hour later. You can also take it last thing at night but should not have eaten for 2 hours.
If you take medication a.m. take it after your morning blood test and it is best to have it as early as possible. If taking meds at night, miss out night's dose and have it after blood test.
Hi Are you on any meds? What were your blood results.TSH, T4 and Free T3 ( you need them all) with ranges.print out fro receptionist. Diabetes, results a different one. Could be Glucose, needs to be bellow 5 or the better test Hb1Ac. If you ask for the results on a print out, you can tell by the tests and ranges.if it is OK. if it were full blown diabetes, you would receive treatment immediately. However, possible it is border line, hence the retest. or if not on treatment for thyroid, could be that. Although in that case the 4 weeks surprisingly soon.
Best wishes,
Jackie
