Hello Everyone, Does anyone know what to take? I have a Multi nodular goitre and my throat has swelled up and causing lots of pain now

I was taking Nurofen but they are no longer working.

Not sure if the pain is caused by the Thyroid or the goitre, my docs appointment isn't until the 25th Nov.

Last Time i was given Naproxen but I had a bad reaction to that

I would go to the A&E and maybe they will get the Endocrinology Dept to look at your throat especially as it is swollen.

It will be far too painful for you to wait for appointment.

Hello Shaws,

If I go to A&E or to a GP then I will just be given Naproxen or something simillar, their is no interest in getting to the bottom of why this is. I am so Ill now that It really doesn't seem worth the effort to go to them

Hi I assume you have a scan and biopsy for any nodules? All essential. Is your corrected calcium over range,? If so that means Parathyroid blood tests3 done AM together Corrected calcium , D and PTH, if over range, or D just up and 2 over range. ,if high then ( over range) a nuclear PTH scan, also a CT and ultra sound of thyroid. What are your blood results tSH, T4 and Free T3 ( essential), with ranges.

Do you think your thyroid is worse? What treatment are you having? My voice is terrible, no one can hear , even when shouting and I can only swallow a few things and then with a mouth full of water. Are you like this?

Personally I would look at all this, knowing how I am , I would not panic. As for a n urgent appointment with your Endo, e mail the sec and put a letter on the e mail , explaining to the Endo. If not seeing one, or no good. Find a good one, yourself and ask for a referral urgently., rather than having to wait months.

I hope that helps, it is usually a gradually problem if there not so urgent If you go to A& E, youwill not see the right person and often a wrong opinion is more trouble that getting it right first time.

Best wishes,

Jackie

Hello Jackie,

Thank you for taking the time to reply to me, when you are so poorly.

I had a ultra sound on the goitre but the bloke I was sent to see was very reluctant to even do that, he was cross that I was even sent up to the hospital in the first place, his words to me were "I don't know why they bothered sending you to me, at your age their is no danger it being cancerous" I tried to explain that I had lost my taste and sense of smell but he wasn't interest just said we can't do anything about that. I do have to keep clearing my throat and my throat is very dry, but I can speak ok, I was not a loud person before this kicked off. I had no thyroid medication for 9 days because of the toxicosis but this morning I decided I will take a little - What a fool I am, It just makes me worse, I feel terrible, I am sure they must be treating the wrong condtion. I can't go on like this, I can't bare it. I have an appointment to see a doc on the 25th of Nov and I know he will listen to me and try to help. I saw an endro last month and he was nasty and we ended up argueing. I haven't got any recent Blood Test results, when I asked for the ones teh endro done he said he hadn't got them, since then I have changed surgeries x
