Armour Thyroid trial. Should I be experiencing worse symptoms as I go into my 4th week of this 3 month trial.

Hi. I don't know if Armour isn't suiting me, or maybe I'm not on enough. Since I've changed from T.4/T.3 about 4 weeks ago to Armour I have been experiencing very bad aching joints, weakness, dizziness, nausea. By lunchtime I am near collapse. I am not due a blood test for about 7 weeks. Has anyone else had these symptoms when they've gone onto Armour? Is it just a matter of getting the old tablets out of my system and the new ones in? Does it sound like I'm not on enough? I am sleeping better at the moment but nothing else has improved. I feel like an old woman, struggling to walk and do normal every day things.

I was on 50mcg Thyroixin and 20 mcgs of Liothyroine. This was exchanged for 2 Grains of Armour.

Hi, I am not sure whether this link will help you. When you stop levo it takes about 6 or 8 weeks to leave your system altogether - it gradually diminishes.

Thank you Shaws. I will try and give it a few more weeks, to get the T4 out of my system.

I almost alway felt worse when starting/increasing my dose of Armour. It took me over a year to get to my current dose of 2.5 grains of Armour. I am now feeling very well, so the pain was worth it :)

I wonder if you may have started on too high a dose? 2 grains is equivalent to 76mcg of thyroxine and 18mcg of T3, so this sounds higher than your previous dose. How were you feeling on that and why did you decide to change? xx

I started on 2 grains because my Endo told me it was equivalent to the T.4/T.3 regime I had been on and its what he has prescribed.

Initially when I got prescribed T.3 as well as T.4 I had great improvements in my health, but over 6 months I started having sleepless nights and shaking. So the Endo asked me if I wanted to try Armour. I was willing to give anything a go but I do feel alot worse now. Definitely no Hyper symptoms.

Would you suggest, dropping my Armour for a week or two then raising it up to the 2 grain?
