Are my sons showing symptoms of thyroid issues? I have hypothyroidism

I posted some results for my 21yr old son a couple of weeks ago and would like to post more of his results and my older 25yr old sons results. Following advice /comments from members on here..The 25yr old has lots of gut issues and can’t gain weight, we know he’s not gluten intolerant already tested for this. But he has previously had gallstones 4 yrs ago.

I would welcome any advice on the results before we seek GP input.

I will have to add the results separately as I can’t seem to post 2 photos of the results!

Well, technically, n° 2 son is hypo with a TSH of over 3. But, you'd never find an NHS doctor to diagnose him with those levels, and negative antibodies.

And, his B12 is too low, should be over550. So, might help him if he took a B coplex with methylcobalamin and methylfolate - Thorne Basic B is a good one. :)

N° 1 son is not hypo according to those results, but his FT4 is unusually high, with low FT3 and a good TSH level. To be honest, these results look like those of someone already on levo, who has a conversion problem. Not sure what to make of them.

Antibodies negative, nutrients good - don't worry about the B12, it's not really high.

By the way. you can't post more than one photo in the original post, but you can add photos in the comments by clicking on the drawing of a picture - oblong with mountains and sun - underunderneath. :)

Regarding the B12 result for this son shown here.

Blue Horizon use the unit of measurement of pmol/L for B12.

According to an extract from the book, "Could it be B12?" by Sally M. Pacholok:

"We believe that the 'normal' serum B12 threshold needs to be raised from 200 pg/ml to at least 450 pg/ml because deficiencies begin to appear in the cerebrospinal fluid below 550".

"For brain and nervous system health and prevention of disease in older adults, serum B12 levels should be maintained near or above 1000 pg/ml."

B12: 336pmol/L = 455.28pg/ml

So he is just over the lowest limit they suggest but not reached their recommended limit so it would be a good idea to improve this.

If you test again and the unit of measurement is pmol/L then it needs multiplying by 1.355 to give the result in pg/ml units.

As B12 and folate work together it's a shame the folate test couldn't be done, similarly with ferritin. Are these going to be repeated? Ferritin in particular is important.

Yes I did ask for the ferritin and folate but I posted the Blue horizon sample on a Thursday night and they said the sample was compromised for those tests. Will repeat them thank you for your help.

Yes, I can see it says haemolysed which is why I asked if they were to be repeated.
