Endocrinologist - specialises in the endocrine system. If you are choosing one check that they specialise in thyroid problems and not diabetes.

The term ”endo” is short for “endocrinologist”.

An endocrinologist is a medical consultant who is a specialist in treating people with problems in their endocrine system.

The endocrine glands are the various glands spread through the body and include the thyroid, pancreas, ovaries, testes, pituitary, pineal, thymus and adrenal glands.

Many endocrinologists specialise in one area – for example, diabetes or reproductive issues. Only a small proportion are thyroid experts. However, they are all expected to be able to handle most of the cases they see.
