burning mouth
Are you under treatment ,like Levo?
Tongue discomfort has been talked about here- and I feel it affects my tongue and I'm still trying see if adding in Iron helps after first feeling it made tongue worse. Often getting the right track causes contrary results initially.
Other meds can have the same effect with me, so it's tricky.
I have this - a really sore, burning tongue, but I think it might be related to low B12 - I'm having mine tested again.
hiya thanks for the response, i have had an underactive thyroid for 15 years and i have never had a problem with my tongue and mouth up until now, im on 175mg of levo, vit d, hydroxychloroquine, i will try added b12 to my daily meds thanks again
Is it B12 deficiency? apparently burning mouth and can crack at the side of the mouth, hope you get it sorted soon.x
my tongue felt like it was burnt-when i ate some hot fried food and cough lozenges.i may have thyroid probs and lupus from symptoms even though my DR hasn't/wont confirm it.
Have been struggling with even worse ulceration and burning sensation with almost any food on tongue and mouth for the last week. I have had it for about 6 weeks and do have flare ups now and again - the last time my ferritin was at 5. This time the B12 factor could be part of it as I have cut out supplements before blood tests due on Monday -NHS says my B12 is fine but the private physio and a homeopath both say I seem low. I have also recently been to the hygienist at the dentist - often a precursor.
Piriton has really helped over the last couple of days taking down both swelling and sensitivity - far better than NHS hydrocortisone tabs or the mouth ulcer paste. I realised my nephew has similar symptoms just before anaphylatic shock episode through food allergy and thought I'd try his piriton first aid option 1 - fingers crossed.
I have also stopped all acid fruit and veg for a couple of days and tried to reduce sugars to a low just to see, boiled rice and lightly boiled egg seems OK Hurrah.
Have you had a doctor look at it? It could be an infection or oral thrush. Probably worth getting it looked at. On the vit and mineral front low iron, B12 or folate can cause glossitis, so really you need tests for all 3. I don't know anything about lupus, can it be a symptom of that too?
