Am posting here my results from latest bloods in desperation to find what is causing me hypothyroid symptons even though they say thyroid checks have come back normal/within range (carpel tunnel, painful muscles low temperature all day, back pain, tiredness, feeling the cold, sore feet and a few more!) I asked the doctor to do these tests having read on this site from many of you how important they can be.
Well, although your TSH isn't at all bad, your T4 and T3 are very low in range. There may be reasons for this other than your thyroid but it is definitely worth keeping an eye on in case it gets worse.
What I did notice is that your iron is low. Iron is very important for getting thyroid hormones into your cells. Low iron can make you feel very hypothyroid for that reason. You will probably benefit from iron supplementation.
It would be helpful to know what you are taking, including all medications and supplements if you don't mind sharing
I'm sorry I can't be more help. Hopefully getting your iron up will help or at least unmask a hidden thyroid problem that could then be treated.
No I dont mind sharing that info. I was sent to see a rheumatoid specialist a year ago as have sacroiilitis and they suspected ankylosing spondylitis but think thats been discounted now thank goodness. I take no regular medications but I have been seeing a nutritionist as feeling so bad and he has recommended the following supplements which I am taking.
Probiotic
Agnus castus 2 times daily.
Vit D drops (was low but not deficient)
An enzyme to aid digestion at mealtimes.
Ginger powder
Tumeric powder (both anti infalmmatotes)
MSM sulphur tablets 3 times daily.
A collagen type supplement.
Seems a lot!
I have very low progesterone too so am taking the agnus castus for that and low oestradial. Worryingly also a low white blood cell count 3.58 (4.2 - 10.8) but apparently have been like that for a long time. They say its normal for me!! I also have a low neutrophil count 1.95 (2.0 - 7.5) and low lymphocite count 1.09 (1.5 - 3.5 ) Quite worrying. What sort of iron supplementation would you suggest?
It would be best to go for an iron supplement that is easily absorbed, such as Spatone. There are others too that other people might be able to recommend. I use Spatone because I find that works for me but there are others out there too. It is best to take it with vitamin C to aid absorption.
I tend to have low white cells, particularly neutrophils. I don't know why this is but I think I remember reading somewhere that it could be autoimmune. As thyroid problems tend to be autoimmune by nature, that would make sense, however I can't remember fully.
