It's meant to be good for thyroid and adrenal health. I'm wary these days of rushing out and buying yet another supplement as I've tried so many with no results
Does anyone have any feedback on taking L tyros... - Thyroid UK
Does anyone have any feedback on taking L tyrosine?
Hmm...having read this I'd say tread carefully, but have no direct experience of it.
Hi Bluedaffodil
Not sure about this one. (L) Tyrosine is involved in the thyroid function and other processes, but I've taken L-Tyrosine and didn't find it much help. You could get just as much benefit from a complete protein like firm cheese and all the other benefits it provides. Tyrosine is an amino acid, as you probably know. There is information on the Internet that suggests that tyrosine can cause health issues. I would have to have a dig around before I could say any more.

I took LTytrosine a few years back with a herbal at half doses and found after 4 days it was 'winding me up', rather!
I stopped it then as I know triggering hormone reactions is not the way to go when blind on the results [Blood tests needed]
I have taken more amounts per serving of L Tyrosine in whey since without the same negative effect, though -so would say that in a food source [say Whey protein concentrate] it is likely less of a problem than when pure or mixed with herbal products. My experience, anyway.
Thanks everyone
It did the exact opposite of what it was supposed to do. I tried L-tyrosine from source naturals, took 3 500mg capsules in the morning and waited for it to boost my energy. Instead, it made me so drowsy that I slept. I reduced my intake to just 2 capsules the next day. I felt like my blood pressure had shot up and felt drowsy. It was worse than the first day. I tried a single 500mg capsule for the third day and again felt the bad effects. I had no energy to continue and stopped.
Not willing to give up, I ordered L-tyrosine from now foods after a week and took a capsule. My symptoms returned and I decided L-Tyrosine is not for me.
