Best brand of NDT to get in the UK , cost and where it can be ordered from.

Spoke to my pharmacist today about NDT, told him i was going to ask my gp for it, its costs £55 a month for my t3 and t4 so I thought it was a good excuse to put NDT to my Gp if it was more cost effective. The pharmacist wants to know what brand I want and if its licensed in the UK, he has never actually dispensed it before. Please can anyone advise me on this matter, brand and cost etc, he wants to know where he can order it from too. Many thanks.

You might find the information on this page of the main Thyroid UK website helpful. I don't know about prices and as for the best brand, that's different for everyone. I take NatureThroid and it seems to suit me ok.

It can be prescribed by your doctor on a named patient basis so there should be no problem with your pharmacist obtaining it once they know where to get it from.

I hope this information at least gets you started. Good luck with the NDT. It's been a life saver for me :)

I have hair loss too. Am on Thyroxine only. What do you mean NDT is your last resort? I'm trying to stop the hair loss too. Thought it was low ferritin causing it. Please explain what you have found out. X

I havnt found anything out, i,m opting for Ntd to see if it stops my hair loss :)

High street pharmacies are useless for ndt. Superdrug tried to tell me it ws £300 for 100 tabs of Armour. Yeh right. Got it delivered to my door by Pharmarama for £35 for 100 tabs i think. Ended up not using them as they were quite close to use by date and had own fresh supply of another brand obtained elsewhere.

I have only tried Thyroid S ndt brand and it works for me
