Aw bless him - his mum died at 44 and discovered Dad was not the one in the battle of britain - he's 70 (well prob 72 now?).
"nothing seemed to cure him, so he prescribed himself constant sunshine and moved to New Zealand, living in a small house near Auckland.
Meanwhile an interesting conversation about ME testing today at work. Of course I said "IS there an actual test for ME"? I've heard of scans but he was convinced there was, so he was told anyway... (I was thinking it was probably adrenal or pituitary connected?? bear in mind a sister with THyroid Cancer and Hypo mum... just saying what I heard....)
Buspirone (an anti-anxiety med I believe) administered at hospital and regular hourly blood tests to to see the 'reaction'. As far as I can gather, they're measuring cortisol and prolactin levels to indicate if there's not enough blood in brain function or if metabolic - anyway here's link

BTW it was suggested I had ME/CFS too - (CFS may not be the same thing) just after my partial thyroid op - I took it as a co-incidence. J
Maybe we'd all get better with two years of sunshine and self-indulgence!
....reading about MC many years ago I did feel he came over as a man 'driven '.... He admitted his perfectionism which I think may have bordered on OCD. Perhaps he was Hyper and then started to become Hypo. Face flesh became more over the years too. Could be a Hashi's man.
The ME debates of course continue - but must admit I do come down on the side of Dr Lowe and his work on Lowered Metabolism and its effects on the body. At least that is something that can be indicated. Had a cousin that was diagnosed with ME back in the 60's and when I was diagnosed in 2005 with UAT she too was tested and found that she too had a problem. A talented life wasted worrying about her health once the ME label had been attached.
I also have a friend here who too was diagnosed with ME back in the 60's. He has spent a fortune on various treatments and practitioners and for that reason is loathe to admit it could be anything underlying that could be the cause ! Have persuaded him to take B12....but he refuses to admit a thyroid test could reveal something. He has had heart surgery too after an attack and now walks miles every day. An absolute credit to him I do admit ...but....
The discussion continues....
Was watching Hello Dolly with my 85 yr old mother in law and was curious to see if MCwas still alive. As soon as I saw his bloated face in a photo I just thought he has a thyroid problem!!! Then read various articles saying he had CFS/ME. Wonder whether he has had full thyroid blood tests and had his adrenals checked.
