Home blood testing

I'm looking at getting one of the home blood testing kits by blue horizon for advanced thyroid function. Has anybody used these ? Am interested to know how easy it is to do and are the results as accurate as the more traditional blood collection option.

I don't think there is any question over accuracy. The blood same bit is easy enough for most of us but some people are less comfortable or able to collect the sample.

If your doc won't test.........

I have used Blue Horizon for the full thyroid profile, and the kit is very easy to use. You get a little vial that you fill from a finger prick test, and they give you 3 spring loaded lancets to do the job.

Unfortunately, my GP refuses to acknowledge the tests :(

Thank you all for your comments. Think I will give it a go.

Hi All BH tests are the best you can have, same Lab as all the private hospitals use Some tests, different or not even available NHS. For finger prick, test drink at least a glass of water before, say half an hour or so, be sure to be well hydrated. Warm the finger under hot water.Their Harley St. doc always checks them, any major problems with the results, you get a report.

Best wishes,

Jackie

This is who I am going to use after I get my printouts from the doctors, I thought you ordered the tests made an appointment and went to their clinic to get the blood drawn ?

Have I misread this ? Because its a 140 mile round trip for me to do this, its why I have been putting it off.

You have the option to go to the clinic, but there is also a home test kits option (which is part of Blue Horizon) - here's the link:

cheers for that link xanthe, I have been apprehensive about doing the 140 mile round trip incase I don't get back in time for school finishing.

Will give the doctors a few days to reply to my complaint and see if they will do further testing, if not I will order the home test next week, ta.
