Interesting. When I saw Dr P last week, he suggested I consider taking vit D. When I saw my GP on Monday he told me he had asked for my Vit D level to be tested on my last blood test, but that the result hadn't come back.
The surgery have just phoned me. My Vit D level is so low that my GP has written me a prescription.

I don't know for sure, but the d3 test seems to take about 10 days, so anyone who doesn't have their results should follow them up at approx. 15 days. Try not to think that they haven't been done.
Yes, that would be right, I think. My test was done on Fri 12th and it's now Wed 24th. I didn't know it had been done til the GP told me it hadn't come back. I now have something else I can work on improving.
They wait until they have a certain amount of vitamin d tests to be done so it takes longer.
I too had vitamin d deficiency a couple of years ago (good job I asked for the test) and am convinced this is the reason for losing 4 teeth!
My GP prescribed Adcal but I didn't want to take it - lots of people get an upset tummy when they take it. I have been buying vitamin D3 capsules online.
I had it retested recently and it was around 130 (it was rock bottom when first tested).
My Endo said there is no need to buy your own as the NHS prescribe Pro D3 now, he asked my GP to prescribe it which she said that she will do.
Anyone reading this that hasn't had their vit D tested - ask for the test, and B12, ferritin and folate too.
at least your doc chased you up, my vit D is 18 and only found out because I asked. Doctors not concerned. Went to Holland and Barret and am taking the 25ug once a day but I have a feeling I should be taking more, what has your doc given you?
I don't know what he's prescribed - I'm feeling too **** today to go and get it! I crashed yesterday as Dr P advised me to stop taking the T4 whilst I build up the nutri-adrenal extra. I did take some T4 yesterday and today I've taken extra nutri thyroid. It's such a juggling game, isn't it. Meanwhile I'd already bought 500iu tablets of VitD,which I started yesterady. I'm taking 2.
Hi D is a hormone so often needed. However make sure you have a test for corrected calcium before starting treatment. Then both repeated after 3 months. If calcium out of range, D has to be stopped.
