Hi. I had a total thyroidectomy and radio iodine treatment in 2016 for Papillary Ca. I've been having annual monitoring since with no concerns. My most recent blood test shows normal thyroglobulin but raised thyroglobulin antibodies at 40. My latest is TSH 0.7 and T4 in normal range.
What I want to know is if the thyroglobulin abs are raised is a sign of cancer recurrence even if the thyroglobulin is normal? I've tried getting an answer from my hospital team but they've just told me in a letter that my thyroglobulin is normal so it's fine but haven't answered my question about the raised antibodies.
I had Ovarian Cancer in 2022 and I'm currently on a biologic medication to prevent recurrence so I'm wondering if this has affected the blood test however as I've had cancer twice I'm concerned about anything that may point at a recurrence.
Any advice on what the blood results could mean would be appreciated. Thanks

You are simlilar to me with having had Thyroid Cancer the Papillary type.
In Sept 2019 I was 6 weeks back from a 12day River Russian Cruise when I was diagnosed
STROKE Ischaemic Embolic type, Rapid and Persistent AF and 4 days in Thyroid Cancer.
Feb 2020 I had a full thyroidectomy,12 lymphs removed (2 affected) and dissection.
No RAI TREATMENT I declined. It was Low Risk.
No Suppression TSH.
The surgeon and I follow Mr Gary Claymore Head and Most Decorated Surgeon in Thyroid cancer in USA.
What is your Thyroglubin serum? That is an indicator for return of cancer.
As you have no Thyroid you should have no indication of serum 0.
In my 4th year I was recalled back in February. This latest scanner did her job right and took pics furthe down of 77mm of calcification. Ultra sound has not given a clear picture says its a ring. ?
My thyroglubin is 1.7.
Gary Claymore puts it at 0 serum normal. Between 1-2 possible return of cancer.
They don't worry about the thyro antibodies as variables can change this.
Gary Claymore says Low Risk patients should keep to a low normal not a very low normal which you are in at TSH 0.7.
I keep mine between 1.5-2.5.TSH.
I underwent CT Scan in March and a PET/CT Scan in May.
The CT Scan shows 2 x ? Lymph Nodes 7mm and 8mm. The 19m x 9mm is behind these 2 and cannot be corrected identified as scar tissue or cancer. Not other imaging to compare.
Apart from inflammation left hamstring, scarring left side bladder, dot in my right lung, warm pituitary gland my scan was called unremarkable! A funny word.
I then had an MRI Pituitary Gland. Normal. Could have been cased by missing my 125mg Synthroid day prior and on the day.
I'm booked in for another I think CT scan in November.
But the astonishing POST PET Scan result is that my thyroglubin has fallen from 1.7 to 1.1. Another lab gave it 0 .98.
So did the nuclear iodine infusion kill off the 8mm and 7mm lymphs. Iodine kills thyroid tissue.
Would you care to tell what was your operation and what did they find?
Thanks for the helpful reply. My thyroglobulin is undetectable so I think they are happy there's no recurrence. I just wanted to question if the antibodies were raised because of an issue or if it was an anomaly and not of concern. They didn't answer my question in the letter they sent me so just trying to get some reassurance!
It reads that the raised antibodies can affect the result of the serum.
Yes having 0 serum shows no cancer return.
The organs left that can make serum are pituitary gland and parathyroid. The para .. can be taken out by any RAI treatment. Depending how drastic a level you were given. JOY
