I posted a little while ago, still feeling rubbish, still on thyroixine 125mg from Nov 22, but only just have my test results from monitor my health ( thx for snapdragon) - I've had thyroid cancer and my specialist nurse doesn't really have a handle on my thryoxine dose.
results:
thyroid function : TSH 0.35mu/L - normal
FT4 27.1mu/L levels high
FT3 3.7pmol/L - normal
Other tests: Vit D - 60nmol/L normal
103g/L low levels of haemoglobin / ferritin 24ug/L / TSAT 29% /Active B12 59pmol/L normal
Folate 5.6iu/L - normal
Glycated Haemogloben -36 mmol/mol - diabetes HbA1c results under 42mmol/mol - in range
(Cholesterol - 6.2 mmol/L - higher than 5
High Denisty lipoprotein 2.04 mmol/L - more than 1.2 - so going in the right way.
Hi, thanks for the reply - that's really interesting the higher TSH. I've have been really low. I spiked at 9, last year, after very low doses of thryoxine of under 100mg, now back on 125mg, yes suppression dose I think. They don't seem to take into account B's / iron levels, only looking at thryoid results.
It s paillary thyroid PT3 cancer 2020, had RAi in march '21.
I faced the RAI ? and I asked them.. so you removed my thyroid fully and 12 right lymphs. YES. So what is my RISK of cancer returning. LOW RISK.
The 12 lymphs taken two were found to be affected.
Right I said NO THANX. I had the highest regard for my surgeon.
In 2005 he and the same anaesthetist removed on the 3rd operation a milk duct with
a carcanoma in situe within. Then the did a cross section of the milk ducts.
I asked the same ? and said NO to radiation.
I am a ex nurse, read up, went to see Radio Active film based on the Curie's life and experiments. All radiotherapies kill good bacteria as well as bad cells.
Gary Claymore as stated changed his view of if RAI was suitable for LOW RISK patients. He changed the view and with folks lke me who refuse statistics are. created.
Also suppression. my thyroid cancer undiagnosed caused AF an irregular heart beat. Also my age was 70 yrs 9 months.
2 risks in suppression.
Gary Claymore and I advise you to look him up on researching thyroid cancer, advises that Low Risk patients should keep to a level of lower end of normal. Then it was between .4 - 4.2. But recently it has been changed to normal as .4 - 2.5.
Still my surgeon has assigned me to TSH 2.0.
I take 125mcg daily Synthroid best why sealed 90 tabs, expiry date, kiddie lock and condensation pellet. I take them as dissolving under tongue. About 2 x days a month I add another 25mcg.
I weigh 90kg. Long body shorter legs! 1.75 height.
Do you have a neck scan on each anniversary date. My 3rd one is due.
My surgeon gave me a blue dye drip for an hour before operation. Also 1.5 saline drips prior to that. Starting at 6am. Very careful not to damage my voice.
I sang in the Christmas Carol Choir early December. It took 4 mths to get back my soprano voice!
thank you Joy for all your info. Sorry it’s taken my a while yo get back yo you, it’s been a stressful week, so only now trying yo get back online. I will have a look at your recommendations- thank you!
