It depends if the cramps are in your stomach or bowel. The nerves that supply your stomach should not (normally) refer to your lumber/sacral spine which is where you could get pain referred to the tops of your legs. Their as some parts of your bowel that could be causing pain to be referred to the tops of your legs. I'd go the the doctors. He should be able to tell based on where you are getting the pain and asking a few other questions e.g. when do your get the pain, for how long, does walking change the pain, what make it worse/better etc. if it is likely to be referred pain or not. We are all plumed a bit differently so go to the doc's and put your mind at rest.

I get that too: its achy and tops of thighs hurt when walking up stairs. I also feel very bloated in face. I was told that it could be as a result of toxin build up. I get relief from lymphatic drainage massages and drinking a little bit more.

I agree that you should go to your doctors - never good idea to assume its something when you are experiencing pain. Pain is our body telling us its not happy!

I get severe ibs and get cramping pain in my stomach, back and hips. I feel better with diazepam and colpermin. going to loo makes me worse but eating regularly and drinking plenty eases the pains. sometimes it gets so bad in my hips and back that I cant walk. x

i am on colpermin anyway and also take buscopan when really bad but i have had a bad flare up where i couldnt move for a few hours it cos hurt so bad, and that was where my back was in agony aswell my stomach but thankfully that has only ever happened once and i was crying in pain on that occasion. which i rarely cry with pain.

I also get pain in my upper thighs and groin in particular. I think this is common with ibs. Where exactly is your main pain, is it the stomach or lower abdomen /pelvis.

Mine is lower left area and definitely feel it in back, hip, thigh and groin.

right now my stomach is swollen, pain in the base of my spine coming round in my hips and into abdomen. can hardly stand cos of pain n ive been like this for three days. I often get like this tho. im not as careful with what I eat n I had a lot of garlic, which I love , and this is the end result. im now on gabapentin, co-codamol, colpermin and diazepam. its nice in a weird way to find others who have the same symptoms. I started with it this bad 18 yrs ago and all docs say is watch what you eat and shove colpermin in our hands. sat at my computer right now I look six months pregnant lol. I could cope with the abdominal pain but by god the back pain cuts straight thro and I feel crap.x

I have all of these symptoms, pain down front of legs stops me walking at times, pain in lower back and lower abdomen. Came across 'ileo cecal valve' info earlier this week and on line you can find details of a simple massage. Has helped loads! Would be great to hear if anyone else has tried this. Kinesiology seems to be the therapy that deals with this. Am trying to find someone near me and will report back if I do.

By the way I have also been on FODMAP diet ( after having given up gluten, wheat and dairy milk years ago). The FODMAP will help to find out what is irritating your digestive tract and allow it to heal.

Hi - if i have very bad cramping in my lower abdomen then i do get pain in my thighs, but it's usually when i get to the loo! Also get it at the bottom of my back. i have started the FODMAP diet and take Buscopan regularly. i have had a really bad flare up for about 8 months and have just been for a colonoscopy. They found a polyp which was removed and has been sent off for examination. Just waiting on those results coming through. i thought that would settle IBS down, but no - it's as bad as ever! FODMAP is helping though

Does the pain in your belly almost feel dull like a period pain and it goes into your hips down to your knees. I'm going Through this right now. never experienced this for 3 days straight. So going on symtom checkers and found this
