Since last year I have had pains in my shoulde... - IBS Network
Since last year I have had pains in my shoulder and arm. Also legs with bad cramp.Dr said that I need vitamin d. Have done this .
Hi
Funny that you should mention these problems as I have experienced similar over the past few months. I am in recovery now having experienced longest flare up ever. I am 59 now and this winter although temperatures have not been very low I have really been feeling cold. I thought this because I no longer had the warming benefits of the menopause but it may well be ibs related. I had not previously made the association but thinking back I have not experienced similar problems before. Would be interested to hear if anyone else has experienced similar.
Yes. I am finding it hard to sleep some nights. My legs are really cold. Last night had to get well wrapped up in very warm PJs.
Has your doctor tested your thyroid function? Some of the symptoms include being sensitive to cold and muscle cramps: nhs.uk/Conditions/Thyroid-u.... There is an association with low vitamin D also: progressivehealth.com/the-r...
Worth asking your GP.
Also get tested for sibo, (small intestinal bacterial over growth) when having this it robs you of all your nutrients..think how much damage if that bacteria is has been there for years & went undiagnosed. It gives you all the ibs symptoms & many others since no matter what you eat it's taking all your nutrients. I had ibs, hair loss, joint problems, anemia etc.. Etc
Thank you for your help .Will see if I can get back to my Dr,and ask him about sibo. Over the years I have had so many tests that I cannot remember what I've Had .You begin to wonder if you are putting everything under the ibs .They my not be related at all.
I hear you! But yes please find out about Sibo. So many go undiagnosed. Also go on lowfodmap diet, it should help you too. I found that I have low to no stomach acid too. That's another thing that causes all kind of weird problems & may have caused the bacteria to grow.
Thank you angbir .I will take everything you say on board. Do you know what makes me so angry,it is that I have had ibs for over 20 years and apart from test to rule out everything major ie cancer s . Have been left to get on with it. Thank you again.
I myself have had over 20years & so sick of hearing its Ibs! Well ibs is just, " I don't know" don't take no for an answer. Something is causing this & we shouldn't have to function this way. I know all your feeling & the depression & anxiety that goes with it. I can also tell you that I gave up on dr's & specialists & got with a naturopath dr. & she helped me more & had more knowledge in 1st visit than any specialist ever has! Best wishes to you, let me know how it goes for you. If you test positive for sibo get ahold of me & I can give you pointers & info on meds. It's overwhelming & expensive, but ways around it.
I have had neck, shoulder and arm pain for the last 2 years, ibs for 26 years,Lichen Planus, and a painful tongue ,was told I need vitamin B12,over the counter vit B12 did nothing for me,the Dr prescribed Cyanocobalamin 50mcg,these have helped,I am also taking Acidophilus from Holland & Barrett, which have made a big improvement to the ibs, have you had a blood test to check your B12 levels ?
Hello all as you all my no ,pains are still bad and have had more bloods taken. This shows that apart from the vitamin D I have a of B12 also anaemia.this would match, mood swings ,feeling cold and very tired.Have got hospital appointment in June for the rheumatoid clinic.
Afternoon to all .I thought I would get back to you all about all the test I was to have .After taking frolic acid for anaemia and a follow-up appointment at the hospital.was told that they have looked through my notes and over the six years I have been going to the doctor with a list of different things going on .That I have fibromyalgia It is a long term ( chronic ) pain in the muscles ,tendons and ligaments. Some of the symptoms are fatigue ,sleep disorder, headache ,feeling irritability, low or weepy increased sensitivity to cold sound and knocks. Then to make matters worse ibs is also a system.
This would explain why it has been getting worse over the years. I am not saying that you all my have this but if some of it rings a bell please go to your doctor and have a word .Over the years I have had injections in my elbows and wrists also antibiotic for urinary tract infections ( also a fibromyalgia system ) and to much to put down .
I am so sorry to go on but feel angry with myself for not inciting to see a specialist before now . Thanking you for reading this ,sorry again .
