I've been suffering with IBS for at least 12 years now. Had 4 cameras look at my larIrrittge bowel, one of which was a month ago. Which showed up diverticular disease throughout my large bowel. I have been for the last 18 months suffering with pain in my lower abdomen when I wake up which as the day goes on turns into back pain, accompanied by nausea and headaches. Does anyone else have the same and how do you deal with it. I have tried all sorts, medication, changing diet. What did make me laugh was I was advised to carry on with medication in last follow up letter after colonoscopy, of which I'm only on sertraline as I suffer with depression due to this illness, no other medication has been mentioned. Possibly my own fault as I feel like I'm banging my head against a wall when it comes to doctors. I'm willing to try anything !!!! Thanks Guys.

Are you drinking plenty of water? It makes a huge difference, and try Fibogel, which helps you pass motions more easily - as long as you also drink lots throughout the day.I find I have problems of C if I don't take liquid through the whole day. Any retained motions can cause pain until you pass them. Hope you find relief soon.
Sorry to hear that you are going through this. I also have diverticular disease and the pain in lower abdomen, sometimes back pain and nausea.
I agree with Jayjayvee that drinking lots of water helps. I also take paracetamol. I have taken Sertraline in the past and I did think that did help my IBS.
You may find changing to another SSRI such as Citalopram may give better gastro pain relief, also try the unique probiotic contained in FerroCalm (available online) may work well for you since its only activated when the gut is under stress or is inflammed, unlike othe probiotics which tend to die under those types of conditions. Obviously your GP should not overlook a gut infection caused by your condition since that is also common. Ginger tea is great for nausea and helps calm the gut. I'm sure that you are watching what you eat, follow the low Fodmap diet, cut out wheat and milk products (try coconut milk instead), get plenty of rest and hopefully things will improve
Thanks for mentioning the FerroCalm - i had been avoiding even looking at this because of the name - it made me assume it contained some form of iron! Because i agree with everything else you've put, it made me look at at the product properly - they just chose a really bad name. Actually looks good, and the info about how it works makes sense, so now I will try it
The FODMAP thing is relatively new for me - been using it as a guide for most of this year though and it has REALLY made a difference. I'm actually OK with wheat, so don't have to be as strict as some people might need to be, but some of the other things have been a revelation. I can actually eat MORE fruit and veg now, because i had been assuming that they would pretty much all affect me badly, but have been gradually adding low FODMAP things over last few months and all good so far!😁
Hi there sorry to hear about your issues. I to have diverticular disease along side IBS . I had diverticulitis in 2017/18 it was painful but uncomplicated i was prescribed fybogel and switched to eating wholemeal bread and lots of water . Even with fybogel it really still wasnt great . I recently stopped fybogel and introduced milled flax this appeared to help hugely and i would defo give it a try just make sure you drink alot of water
