Hi there,

I really feel for you. That is desperate place to be. If you are feeling that bad, I would really suggest having a few sessions with a Reiki healer. I did this when I felt at my worst (as nothing else was working) and it gave me some relief. Worth a try.

Really appreciate your response. How does a Reiki healer work?

in reply tobesterpa

I have written an article on Reiki that you can find here: sickofibs.com/well-being/re...

There are many other energy balancing techniques including acupuncture and acupressure. I personally didn't find these suited me, but everyone is different.

Learning and regularly practicing Tai Chi for yourself can also be really beneficial. My husband loves the Tai Chi series for beginners by Taiflow (on Youtube).

Hope something here helps you,

Alison

Try to see a gastroenterologist on an ongoing basis. Also, try to find a psychiatrist to see on an ongoing basis. If suicidal feelings are strong, go to an emergency room right away. My gastro suggested the FODMAP diet. It has been quite helpful, although it is best to do it with a dietician.

Thanks for your response. The problem is I have seen so many. They don't really give you a good answer. I am currently on strong antibiotics. I am a shift worker and it is difficult to keep to a strict diet. Will I be able to google the FODMAP diet. You know people that don't have this problem don't really understand what pain this condition can cause. Yesterday I was in bed by 17h00 because I was so exhausted of the pain. But thanks again!!!

I’m sorry you feel so bad and have so many different conditions. Suicide is not the answer. Try to see if you can see a therapist on a regular basis for talk therapy. I get very severe IBS pain too so I know how severe it can be. Important to focus on whatever is good In your life. Ask the Dr to keep trying different things to see what will help the pain. You can definitely Google FODMAP diet. I hope you feel a little better soon.

Thanks Margie, I am going to see a therapist on 06 March. I have never seen a complex condition like I.B.S. The day somebody is going to find something to clear the pain he or she is going to be rich beyond compare. I don't know if I am more sensitive to pain then other people but hell this is not nice. I have been a runner for many years as well as cyclist, enjoyed hiking but nowadays i feel like doing nothing. Then on the other hand depression and i.b.s. go hand in hand. Once in that black hole it is not easy to get out. But thanks again Margie!!!

I agree that someone could get very rich if they find a good treatment for IBS. I think most doctors don’t understand how bad it is. They know the symptoms, but they don’t know how severe the pain can get and how much it can limit the things one is able to do. I understand. Bothers me almost everyday. Good luck. Hope therapy helps.

I was told that in the West you won't find a cure for IBS. You have to find a good Chinese accupunturist, I heard they can cure it. This was told to me by my Chinese Endodontist. I will be seeing one when the weather gets warmer here in Canada.

I had acupuncture before Christmas for digestion issues and honestly the feel good factor afterwards that did last for a good few weeks was remarkable - also my digestion felt better but it is something you would need to do on a regular basis. Try this, try Reiki, try seeing also a kinisielogist too as sometimes they can rebalance your system fairly quickly (muscle testing) and they can also tell you which foods to avoid

I am sorry to hear all your troubles. You have to speak to your doctor about your depression and they will be able to help you. You must also ask to be referred to a gastroenterologist. Below are details regarding the constipation.

I have chronic constipation. I have been to private consultant and had the tests done. There are two new drugs that you can get on the NHS called Prucalopride and Linaclotide. The don't work like traditional laxatives, they work on the receptors in the stomach. They should give it to you if nothing else works. It is on the NICE guidelines and you should say this to your doctor. Linaclotide which I take now is amazing. Works within hours. It is not like Laxido or Movicol which does nothing for me and makes me bloated. What I also take in between is about 600 to 1000mg of magnesium citrate or oxide on an empty stomach before bed with lots of water. This works great, naturally and is effective. My colorectal consultant recommended it as well. Look up information on magnesium and constipation. If I don't take it I don't go.

There are other magnesium products for the colon that are excellent although more expensive but worth it. They are in order of my preference, Oxypowder, Aerobic Mag07 and Colosan. You can get them on Amazon or a place called the Finchley clinic. They are very helpful and you can call for advice. Hope this helps.

I also follow the fodmap diet but this does not help constipation only the bloating.

Hi, Here in South Africa the only thing they prescribe is Movicol. To me the taste is awful and it don't really work. I will definitely look into the Magnesium citrate . Thanks!!!

Have you ever visited Buscupan as a treatment? The medical ingredient is Hyoscine Butylbromide. This is a very effective treatment for the pain of ibs however it is often wrongly prescribed as it is very poorly absorbed by mouth. The tablets are 10mg but the body will only absorb around 10% so to actually get 10mg into the body you may need to take 10 tablets. This is a treatment I take very day and it helps. I strongly recommnd. This info comes from a professor whorewell of manchester university uk who I've seen personally and he's helped me.

Thanks for your reply. Out of all the medication I have tried I still feel buscupan is the best. The only problem is that if you have to take 10 tablets per day one will be bankrupt. Here in Gauteng South Africa it will cost a lot to drink 10 tablets per day. Do you take them all at once???

Kind Regards.

RobWilde in reply tobesterpa

No not all st once but it is not uncommon for me to take 4 or 5 and later on in the day another bunch. I get some on prescription here in the UK but I usually have to buy 1 box a month

besterpa in reply toRobWilde

Thanks, tell me how many tablets is in a box where you buy them???

RobWilde profile image
RobWilde in reply tobesterpa

Boxes come in different sizes. I get the ones with about 50 in from supermarket or pharmacy. They are pricy but what can you do.

I can see that you feel exactly the same as me. Today is Sunday and one is suppose to rest but here I am sitting at work and must work 12 hours. And I also have to travel 50 km to work and 50km back with traffic that is killing me. Sometimes I feel that I can just drive past my work and drive until the fuel runs out.

Sometimes I feel I want to wake up in a quiet place where nobody knows me and that I can only rest. Thanks for your sympathy, I really need it. To stay strong is a uphill battle every day.

Don't you think most doctor's worry only about the amount of money they can make and don't really understand the pain we going through.

You must also stay strong. x Thanks.

I was wondering. Is there not any pain blockers on the market that can work on thenervous system, because I found that if I drink any normal pain killers it is making my i.b.s. even worse???

in reply tobesterpa

You may find this article of interest concerning pain: sickofibs.com/ibs-triggers/...

I have just come across something that might be good to discuss with your doctor.

According to this book, The Liver and gallbladder Cleanse by Andrea Moritz, constipation, high cholesterol and depression can have a link to liver function and more specifically stones in the liver.

Worth looking into,

Alison:)

Interesting! Could you tell me more about CBD oils Tom? How do you use them?

Alison

Thank you Tom for the info.

I find that one daily multivitamin without iron but has magnesium also 17mg of polyethylene glycol everyday helps with the ibs-c. Also try to follow the low fodmap diet. Any dietition can help you with the fodmap diet and help you find triggering foods that is causesing your pain.
