Be very aware that many many IBS sufferers have no links to food triggers at all and a lot of companies take advantage of them by telling us to give up this and that and try their testing or products (at a cost of course), having said that yes some people most definitely have food intolerance and it can be helpful to rule this out I would say do your research first from reputable sources ( the low Fodmap diet is worth checking out)
Have you been tested for celiac disease. That would be the main course of gluten intolerance. It is Not an allergy. It involves a blood test and if that is positive they should look further.
Tested for celiac (Iga, ttg abs) and all clear normal. Had all the serum bloods, full blood count, white cell, renal profile and both the quantitv faecal tests that were all clear. Also full urine tests that are normal. I think the gp, although kind, believes I don’t help myself, as I overthink and worry.
The ibs, mainly d has been in the background, periodically for years. I used to work away, Monday to Friday, living in hotels, eating too much junk and drinking too many beers.
I stopped that about 10 years ago and everything has been fine. Odd occasion of, if my system has something it doesn’t like, it evacuates it asap.
So for the last few months, in a stressful time of my life, I’ve experienced buttock ache, if sitting for a while. Some itching and some burning and in general knowing that something is going on. The ibs has been more the lighter side of c, which I can control with diet and fluid. Regular visit each morning.
The gp believes it’s a fissure, further up than he can see, and similar to what I had in April, hence the dilitazam. Referred into the specialist que, incase it doesn’t clear up ?
Thought I better give the full picture and see if it resonates with anyone ?
The only way to find out about food intolerances is by a FODMAP elimination and reintroduction diet preferably by GP referral to a FODMAP trained dietitian.
Hi Stress and worry can cause tummy issues. You could try and keep a food and symptom diary and include your IBS and if you struggled to go etc. and also how you are feeling. This may show up any connections.
I know exactly what you are going through, mine seems to be wheat intolerance only and even though I try to avoid it in my food every now and then I still get the problems you are experiencing, I don't think I will ever get an answer. Stay off wheat as much as you can and see if it helps. Best wishes keith
You can't test for food intolerances, you need to do an elimination diet with a registered dietitian and see if any food triggers symptoms when you add them back. I recommend allergy elimination diet over low fodmap diet. If you have existing allergies or allergies in your family.. Dairy and wheat are the 2 commonest allergies if you can't afford a dietitian but you only usually need a few sessions spread out... and shoudn't cut foods out for longer than 3 weeks before trying to add back as that can make you intolerant to them!
