Why does plain white fish always upset my guts, and make me feel fluid. Everyone says it's so good for you. ??I don't think they believe me, as usual.
Fish ??: Why does plain white fish always upset... - IBS Network
Fish ??
Plain white fish simply cooked with a little bit of salt and nothing else is one of my "super safe" foods. I have IBS D, Is your IBS the same or do you get the constipated version? Most times, eating that will be a bit "binding" for my tummy and result in healthier bathroom experiences the next morning,
But one thing I've learned with IBS is that what suits one person doesn't suit another. So maybe leave out fish? Can you eat meat ok? Or eggs , or even nuts etc? If so you should get plenty of protein without having to eat fish.
But it can also depend on how the fish is prepared and cooked. If there's lots of batter, oils, garlic or seasonings, even pepper or parsley sauce, those could be upsetting your gut rather than the fish itself? That's one thing I learned. I'm OK on plain baked or steamed fish but useless with all those other additions to a recipe.
I can't eat white fish or any fish now. I used to be able to eat plain white fish. It upsets my stomach and gives me more pain.I don't know why this happens.
I stick to chicken and it gets boring.
But I find that's the only dinner I can eat. I have other guy and bowel problems.
Perhaps you could leave of off for a while and try plain white wish again.
Linda .
( Blimey. When I put chicken, it kept putting children ) good job I changed it 3 X .
Hiya, I have tried fish a few times but cannot get away with it, I just stick to plain chicken and have eggs regularly. I also take probiotics which helps me to tolerate more of a variety of foods but still have issues. I wish I could have fish as I used to really like it but sadly I doubt I will have it again. As others have commented we are all different, so we all tolerate different foods. I have multiple health conditions so try to be healthy with eating but it is a minefield for me. Hope this helps
it’s strange how different we are with similar problems ? I have very slow transit IBS C and have been unable to tolerate meat for many years. But white fish and shellfish are no problem, though recently a single egg means extra laxatives afterwards or I’m completely bound up the next day and very uncomfortable. Does anyone else have these problems with eggs ?
I eat eggs every morning and no problems from that. Sometimes fried, sometimes scrambled with some cheese. I use butter and never margarine. I stopped fish and chicken about 10 years ago. I'm fine with beef.
The thing that trips me up is eating too much. For some reason, it's hard for me to remember to stop eating. Sometimes I realize it too late.
I don't like plain white fish, I normally have haddock from chippie, or breaded haddock from store. I always smell of fish next day. Sometimes the covering can give me windy tummy.. My safe during an attack is scrambled egg on plain toast
Wow, unlucky! I find fish (provided it's not battered) is one of my safest foods. And rice.
