Morning Urgency!

Does anyone else suffer from morning urgency with IBS-D? Recently I've been getting this most mornings, waking between 6.30/7 feeling like I really have to go. I have a lot of gas both ways and feel sick with it. Is this normal for IBS-D or could it be something else? Thanks for reading my post, any advise and your experiences would be really appreciated!

Hi this does sound normal. Have you been to doctors? They can rule out other things. Need to look at changing your diet low FODMAP is a good place to start. Medication may help I take mebeverine. X

Hi Nicky, thanks for your reply! I've tried most things already like fodmap. It's helped a bit but not as much as I would have hoped. I saw the gastroenterologist last week and am due to have a colonoscopy and endoscopy as she wants to check for colitis, crohns and coeliac. I really hope I don't have any of them as I already have another health condition called endometriosis so really don't want to have something else! I'm very nervous about the procedures and results!

Yes it’s worse of a morning too

Something to maybe consider Emmy: sickofibs.com/ibs-symptoms/...

If your diarrhea has nervous/emotional roots and you can find the triggers, a hypnotherapist or NLP specialist (neuro-linguistic programming) could help you change this automatic and maybe subconscious reaction.

Hope this helps,

Alison

Your right with this, I have very bad anxiety also which just makes it all worse! I'm having therapy atm to try and help that side of things!

Every day, at least 5 times. Poor dog has to wait ages to go out!

I have a similar problem with my cats with feeding them and looking after them etc. They're very good and patient though!

I don’t feel sick but I have gas a lot and my gut wakes me up mine is about 7:30with and urgency to go either D or C as I have both and cramps etc and vassil vagels how ever you spell it . It is extreme cramping in the intestines where you almost feel like passing out . But I got on glutamine now and moducare which is helping as well as body biotics and inulation and digestive enzymes.

I'm the same especially recently, my gut wakes me up because it's turning over. Mine can start as early as 5am, I try to go back to sleep but can't and then have to go to the loo! I take digestive enzymes which have helped as at one point I was needing to go after every time that I ate, since starting the enzymes it has helped with how often I have to go! It's so tiring needing to go early morning and the multiple times during the day!

I've just posted about this on anither thread lol it's the morning rush, happens on waking or after breakfast as eating stimulates your bowel into emptying for the next meal. If it happens before breakfast its your body getting ready for you eating, especially if you eat at the same time everyday.

I actually don't mind so much going after breakfast, it's the getting woken up by my stomach very early that really bothers me as I end up feeling rubbish and tired all day! Thanks for that info though as I didn't realise the reasons.

Me too most days! Do you get actually woken up by your stomach turning over and cramping? Do you find that being careful with what you eat helps?
