hello, I began bleeding bright red blood from my bum in May so I I went to a walk in service as they checked my bum. They said nothing seems abdominal. Again more blood in June, so I went up A & E the doctor just looked at bum and said to get cream from the pharmacy. Next week again more bleeding. Spoke to a different doctor and he said my previous A & E visit states it was my period. then doctor checked my bum and blood test and said he will refer me colorectal team.

Weeks went by with no appointment. I rang up to check about a time frame when I got a response from the Receptionist that their was no referral made but I was still bleeding. After months of ringing and pestering the colorectal department and speaking to my GP I eventually got an appointment. When seeing this doctor I showed pictures of the bleeding from the bum. She states that it’s my diet and I need to get yoghurt. but she’ll send me for a sigmoidoscopy as Precaution. The sigmoidoscopy went okay and everything was “entirely normal “ and states she thinks it’s piles. Now this week I’m bleeding from again and seeing my GP this afternoon.

I feel like no one is taking me seriously.

Hi. About 6 years ago I experienced what you have experienced with bright red blood coming from my bum. It turned out that I had haemorrhoids but after some further examination in led to my diagnosis of IBS.

If you spend a lot of time sitting for work/home then as we get older, we come more prone to having piles.

Perhaps the reason why your GP and other health departments have been slow to react is that they don't see it as something that is really a problem, as having piles can come and go and can be easily treated at home by using creams and eating properly and drinking plenty of fluids (water preferably).

You are not alone and pray for you that you are not diagnosed with IBS, as that is a whole different ball game!

Take care.x

I am so sorry you are not being heard. I recommend live culture foods, especially real kombucha, kimchi, and beet kvass—-a fermented beet juice. You can find it in a good whole food store.

hi, It is most likely bleeding haemorrhoids which is annoying but not life threatening. Creams and suppositories will help, along with changing your diet a bit. Do you get constipated? That sometimes can cause the problem. It looks as though all your tests are all ok so that is good. Most people have haemorrhoids but it’s not something we chat about and most sufferers will see blood from time to time. Please don’t worry about it.

I get the same thing. A small amount of red blood every now and then when I wipe. I had major hemorrhoid surgery back in 2008 so my anal area is somewhat of a mess from that. I think I have an internal fissure or hemorrhoid that opens sometimes during a bowel movement. I'm not too worried about it.
