Hi I have constant pain, and have had for some years now, stomach pain that is . I was told I had IBS,then Perineal pain, now I’m being told I have Diverticulosis. I don’t understand it whatsoever all I know is my stomach pain is getting worse, and hard to cope with. Quite honestly I don’t think the health fraternity really know what to do with me.
All I’m really asking does anyone know if on Healthunlocked there is a site for Diverticulosis.

Hi Vicky74,if I take much more out of my diet,I will starve. I can’t avoid my bread,I’ve tried that, but I don’t eat a lot of bread. I don’t eat all the other stuff, cakes biscuits Ect. My diet at the moment is very basic while I’m trying to work this out. But thank you for your reply.
hi Breathless1943, sorry to hear about what you are going through. I do not think/know if there is a separate area for diverticulosis. I also have diverticular disease and it appears to be getting worse. I often take paracetamol for the pain and I find the pain passes after a while. I usually get the pain in the mornings.
Looking online, pain seems to be a symptom of this disease. I hope that painkillers will help you.
hi Jackie1612,Thank you for your reply. This disease is new to me,so I was really hoping for a miracle 😉so I could try to help myself. But there don’t seem to be a lot about it,what I’ve read is quite contradictory, but that’s obviously because we’re all different. I was told eat plenty of fibre, then I’m running to the toilet all the time,so I slow it down and I’m constipated,so at the moment it’s all trial and error.
As for the pain,I’ve suffered constant stomach pain for years, but this is unbearable pain at times. I do take Paracetamol as I was told but it does nothing for me. I find I’m in the most pain when I’m sitting. I sympathise with anyone dealing with stomach problems. But thank you
Hi there, I have been diagnosed with diverticulosis and polyps. I now have to have a colonoscopy every three years. When I have pain in my lower abdomen I have found Buscopan has worked (can be bought without prescription) paracetamol is not so effective for me. I hope this helps.
I agree Paracetamol doesn’t do much for me either, but it does keep your temperature down.
I was under a brilliant professor for gastroenterology once, and he told me a 10ml Buscupan only has 2mlof the ingredient in it,and he wanted to try me with injections with the full ingredient in it,but I’ve had a heart attack hand my heart specialist disagreed with it. So he told me it would not help.
Diverticulosis is the presence of diverticula, trapped waste matter in little pods off your bowel. Diverticulitis is when those diverticula become infected and inflamed. The first, you'll probably never know they're there. The second, you'll have sudden, debilitating, excruciating pain.
My next door neighbour has this same problem, and she regularly goes to A&E,I mentioned this to my GP,and he said it’s not necessary they will only give her antibiotics anyway. I just don’t want to go to hospital if I can avoid it.
