Hi all, I have been diagnosed with IBS and Diverticulitis. Pregablin medication seems to be helping. When I recently explained to the GP that every day I am in discomfort from my bowel and despite me having bowel movements on a daily basis that within 30-45 mins after I feel I need to have another bowel movement but when I go to the toilet nothing happens. The GP mentioned I may have an internal prolapse in my bowel. However he didn't feel it warranted referring me to see a specialist and has given me no further medication nor advice how to cope with this daily discomfort.
I wondered whether anyone else in this group has any similar experiences and if so, how they alleviate the discomfort.
Many thanks

I have IBS and Diverticulitis and I also have a small prolapse. (Plus the usual haemorrhoids 😵💫)
I decided to see a consultant privately for a one off appointment and my prolapse was diagnosed at the time. The consultant said surgery was my only option but I decided against this.
It is difficult . I take 2 paracetamol in the morning if I’m not coping with it very well. Lying down to rest also helps.
I do think that you need a proper diagnosis and perhaps you could go back to the doctor and say you really need a referral?
Many thanks for your reply Jackie1612. I'll go back to the GP and if still no referral then I'll do as you did and go for a one off private appointment with a consultant. I've tried paracetamol but had no joy unfortunately. I will see if having a rest helps, fingers crossed it will.
