Mild pancolitis

Hi all I was diagnosed with diverticulitis and mild pancolitis about 2 weeks ago when I was admitted to hospital with a fast heart rate and severe diarrhea and slot of pain. Was bombarded with antibiotics and fluids for 48 hours then was allowed home with 2 different types of antibiotics. I finished these last Sunday. Friday night about 2 in the morning I was wakened up with urgent need for toilet only to discover diarrhea was back. No pain this time. I had been told previously if I have a flare up I should go on a clear liquid diet for 3 days then introduced fibre into my diet slowly but I still feel very weak from last week. Was just wondering if anyone could advise me on what I can take on a clear liquid diet to build me up.

Hello

Firstly, I have no experience of Pancolitis which I understand is an IBD, but I do have experience of diverticular and when I have an episode I eat a bland low fat diet for a few days eg mashed spuds, rice, toast etc plenty of water, that usually settles it. Fortunately, I have managed to avoid anti bacs as they always give me diahorrea before I finish the course, so if I have to take them I take a probiotic yoghurt after to try and balance the gut flora. Hope this helps

Thank you for your reply. I have been trying that but diarrhea still persists. As I couldn't get in touch with my doctor I phoned pharmacy to see if I could maybe take Immodium to clear it up but he advised against this until I see doctor.

Clear chicken soup is a help i always find. Either make your own or buy pkt ones and strain some of the bits. Low cal are the best ones as they are thinner and have less bits. You need to drink water after as they are quite salty.
