Miralax directions and time before working???

Hi all! I have IBS-C and I would like to know if anyone has had luck with taking Miralax and also if I take my first dosage today do I continue to take a dosage each of the 1-3 days until maybe it produces a bowel movement? Or do I take a dose and wait 1-3 days before taking another dose? I'm confused about that I don't want to take too much! Thanks!

Hi Autumn822, I hope the Miralax has worked for you.It never helped me unfortunately. As I now have to take other medication that can cause constipation, I also take Movicol every day. I find one or two sachets every night has things moving the next morning

Fingers crossed you get relief soon xx

It hasn't worked and I'm miserable. Trying home enema but can't keep the water in. Looking into Movical. Never heard of it. Thanks!

I take Miralax every day because of diverticulitis.

As for casual use, I would just see what works for you.

Does it bloat you and give you a churning gut?

It does not. I mean, beyond the usual bloat and churning gut that comes with IBS. Heck, I would say it definitely reduces that.

I also take polycarbophil. That was a substitute for methlycellulose, which was definitely starting to cause some side effects.

Taken a lot of different laxatives over the years, Mirolax and polycarbophil (both osmotics) seem to be working really well for me.

It really is, though, so individual. That's why I counselled the original poster to experiment.

I'm about to give up...nothing is working really and I'm afraid to do too much due to my heart arrhythmia which has been bad today. Thank you for your reply!
